The safety and well-being of students and staff is our TOP priority. AHS is no longer monitoring positive COVID-19 cases in schools and does not require close contacts to quarantine. Some individuals are choosing to inform the school of a positive COVID-19 result. By sharing our knowledge of self-reported COVID-19 cases we can support a healthy school community and help families make the best choices.

Note: Classes identified by teacher name do NOT indicate that the teacher has tested positive for COVID-19, only that a positive case has been associated with the class.

Enhanced Protocols
We know that some parents may choose to keep their child home when there is a positive case that is a close contact. If you choose to keep your child home, please communicate that with the school. If you are entering an absence through safe arrival, please choose Absent – child is isolating due to close contact. Teachers will continue to educate students in their classrooms and will ensure that lessons are available on google classroom so students that are isolating at home can keep up.

In our daily operations, we continue to:

  • Conduct daily enhanced cleaning
  • Require mandatory masking
  • Promote frequent and proper hand hygiene
  • Cohort in our elementary classes Promote and support physical distancing
  • Ensure adequate ventilation
  • Encourage daily screening for symptoms and stay home when ill

10 days away from school in the quarter system will have a significant impact on students that do not keep up. Face to face learning is the best option for students and we recommend coming to school whenever possible.

All staff and students (K to Grade 12) are required to wear masks
while on school buses and when inside Medicine Hat Public School Division schools and properties. Masks may be removed during Physical Education, performance classes* (Band, Music, etc.), when eating, and when outside. Students and staff may take mask breaks, when seated and working independently, or when two meters distant from any other person. Teachers may remove masks while teaching if they are two meters distant from their class.

All enhanced health protocols will remain in place until further notice is provided to families.
